Simple joys

You’ve just gotta love the simple joys in life.
I look for them everyday and do my best to celebrate them when I do.

The other day while chatting with my neighbors, Jim and Sandra, they casually mentioned that their Mulberry tree has “thousands of berries” and that the birds have been feasting. I could pick them if I wanted.
Wait, what? Mulberries?
YES! (In my head I saw my purple stained hand stirring a pot of jam.)
Insert huge smile here.
Thank you guys for that gift of joy!

The school year has at last come to a close. Great BIG yay! We made it through one of the toughest, most challenging, think on your toes, change the plans you made yesterday, academic years in the history of … ever!
I have such high expectations for this summer. To read my books uninterrupted. To make cheese with rennet my Thia sent me from Greece. Bake bread. Deep clean my house. Make jam. Try new chutney recipes. Play in my gardens. Visit friends, near and far.
Take the time to rest, recharge and spend time with my menfolk. Breath deeply.

Maya Angelou once said “Every storm runs out of rain.” This seems to be it. Wake up and greet this brand new day, Friend. Take a deep breath. Smile. Go celebrate your simple joys.

I picked mulberries this morning, Griffin feasted on those that dropped to the ground. They are so sweet! I put them in the freezer and will pick more as they ripen. I’ll make jam when I have enough and will let you know when it’s ready. I promise.

I am joyful and filled with thanks!
What bring you joy, Friend? I’d love for you to let me know.

Remember to save the date: Michael and I will be at the BEAU Market again on Friday, July 23rd from 3 to 6 pm in the Beaurepaire Village. Hope you can come by.
